For the T3 Serrabloom version that turns a 1,012 run into a 1,015 clear with the wave 12 Worm teleport, use my no-T4 Serrabloom full-clear guide. This page keeps the Poakie, Budboo, and mobile boss-squad route.
Introduction
My Horde Invasion runs used to hit the same ugly wall. The regular waves looked fine, then one boss stayed alive long enough to block a lane and ruin everything behind it. I assumed the answer was another T4 carry. It was not.
This no-T4 Horde formation broke 1,000 kills by stacking several boss-priority attacks on one lane. Poakie and Waveflutter control the crowd. Budboo, Sonarbat, and the Fishopus line launch their temporary Lv.7 attacks at bosses. The Donscarab line holds the target in place while Tideon adds Slow and Fragile.
The catch is manual play. I move a three-Tatari strike group toward each boss, refresh Poakie's buff, and retreat when survival breaks.
Quick answer
My no-T4 Horde core uses these jobs:
| Job | Tatari | | --- | --- | | Lava Oil, Stun, and movement buff | Poakie line | | Slow into Sleep | Waveflutter | | Bane and boss-priority shadow burst | Budboo line | | Blind, damage reduction, and weakest-boss burst | Fishopus line | | Boss control and crowd grouping | Donscarab line | | Fragile and wide pressure | Tideon | | Cross-side damage support | Sonarbat | | Healing and central attack support | Cheerspring and Sunfleur | | Wide utility | Sealoon or Toucanzam |
The reports landed around 1,004, 1,008, and 1,012 kills without a T4. The stronger side supplied roughly 55% to 58% of total damage. Poakie led several reports, while the Beetle line led another.
Why this build crosses 1,000 without T4
I am not replacing T4 stats with motivational speaking. I am reducing wasted damage.
Budboo's temporary Lv.7 attack prioritizes bosses, adds a Bane stack, and doubles the target's current stacks. Sonarbat's Lv.7 burst also lands around a boss. Fishopus targets the weakest boss at Lv.7. When all three fire into the same problem, fewer attacks disappear into harmless small Zobos.
The rest of the formation buys time for those bursts. Poakie's Lava Oil applies repeated damage, Burn, and control pressure. Waveflutter turns nearby hits into Slow and Sleep. The Beetle line groups or holds enemies, and Tideon spreads Fragile across the active lane.
My order is simple: trap the pack, mark the boss, then send the burst.
My front, middle, and back setup
I place Poakie and Waveflutter toward the front. Poakie's Lv.5 zone and Lv.7 Lava Oil need to touch the route before enemies pass the control area. Waveflutter stays close enough for Poakie's repeated hits to build Sleep.
Cheerspring and Sunfleur hold the middle. Sealoon takes a broad central tile when its bounce and Weaken cover several lanes.
Budboo stays near a corner inside useful support range. Its Lv.5 shadows pierce enemies carrying Bane, while the Lv.7 attack reaches the boss without constant movement. I give the busy tiles to units that truly need them.
Fishopus, the Beetle line, and Tideon form my moving boss squad. When a boss enters lane four, all three shift toward lane four. Fishopus adds the targeted burst and defensive field, the Beetle controls the target, and Tideon applies Slow and Fragile.
What Fishopus does and why I do not rush it
Fishopus is the strange part of this build. That does not make it a new account priority.
At temporary Lv.3, the Octopus line gains an extra AoE bomb with a chance to Blind. At Lv.5, an expanding field grants damage reduction to nearby allies. The field starts around a compact nine-tile area, so placement decides who receives it. Lv.7 drops a large AoE attack on the weakest boss.
Its report damage often sits below Poakie, the Beetle, and Waveflutter. That is fine. A finisher does not need to win the total-damage table.
I only use Fishopus when the account already invested in that line. I do not throw 60-plus Wish Boxes at an Octopus to copy a niche formation. Zapantler is my practical replacement: move the Deer with the Beetle and Tideon, then use piercing damage on the boss lane. Rockong also gives broad pressure when the board needs safer general damage.
My temporary upgrade priorities
I stabilize the opening before chasing every Lv.7. Dead formations score very few kills.
- I buy enough healing, frontline safety, and main damage to hold early waves.
- I take Poakie to Lv.7 so Lava Oil starts the control engine.
- I take Budboo to Lv.7 for Bane doubling and boss priority.
- I raise Sonarbat for its cross-side support and boss-area burst.
- I take Fishopus to Lv.5 for survival, then Lv.7 when it remains in the final board.
- I finish the Beetle and Tideon upgrades that improve control and boss damage.
Permanent evolution and temporary Horde level are separate. A developing account can use lower permanent forms and still reach the important temporary skills during the run. My Budboo Lv.7 Horde guide explains that distinction in detail.
The manual boss cycle I repeat
This formation earns its score through movement. I use the same cycle on every dangerous boss:
- I identify the boss lane before it reaches the front cluster.
- I move Fishopus, the Beetle, and Tideon into range of that lane.
- I let Poakie place Lava Oil, then move it across nearby allies to refresh its Lv.3 attack and damage buffs.
- I return Poakie to the front so its Stun and oil cover the next pack.
- I keep Budboo in its corner and let its map-wide shadows handle the boss.
- I pull the squad back when the boss AoE or wave 33 to 34 pressure threatens the board.
Against the Water Barrel Boss, I open a lane long enough to bring it closer, then retreat and focus it from range. The Beetle's control stops it from acting freely while Tideon and the targeted bursts cut its health.
For the broader late-wave retreat and base-HP decisions, I use my 1,015 clear plan. This page stays focused on the no-T4 formation and boss squad.
Better substitutions for normal accounts
I treat two slots as flexible after the core control and boss jobs are covered.
If survival fails first, I add Hothog for shields or Charflutter for support. If boss damage fails, I use a second Sonarbat, Zapantler, or another developed piercing attacker. If regular packs leak, I add Rockong or a second Beetle-line controller.
I keep Tideon unless another Tatari supplies dependable Fragile. Removing it for plain damage often makes every other attacker worse. I also coordinate with my partner. One side can carry the mobile boss squad while the other leans harder into support, Monkey, Deer, and wide lane coverage.
Mistakes that keep this build below 1,000
I leave the boss squad in one lane
Fishopus and the Beetle lose most of their value when the dangerous boss appears elsewhere. I move them early.
I chase Fishopus damage totals
Its job is finishing the weakest boss and reducing damage around the active lane. Low report damage does not automatically mean a wasted slot.
I move Budboo with every boss
Lv.5 piercing shadows and the Lv.7 map-wide burst already reach useful targets. I keep Budboo protected and spend my attention on the mobile squad.
I forget to return Poakie
I move Poakie to refresh buffs, then put it back near the front. Leaving it beside the healers sends Lava Oil into empty ground.
I copy the Octopus investment
Fishopus is optional. Zapantler gives a cleaner replacement for most accounts, and Rockong is the safer wide-damage choice.
Final recommendation
I use this build when bosses are the reason my no-T4 Horde team stalls. Poakie and Waveflutter control the approach. Budboo and Sonarbat send boss-priority bursts. Fishopus or Zapantler moves with the Beetle and Tideon to whichever lane needs help.
The 1,004 to 1,012 results show that the idea works more than once. They do not turn Fishopus into a mandatory project. Start with the Tatari already built, preserve the boss-focus jobs, and practice the movement cycle before spending permanent resources.
FAQ
Can a no-T4 Horde formation reach 1,000 kills?
Yes. This setup produced repeated results around 1,004, 1,008, and 1,012 kills by combining Lava Oil, Sleep, Bane, Fragile, boss-priority attacks, and active lane swaps.
Do I need Fishopus for the no-T4 build?
No. Fishopus adds a Lv.5 damage-reduction field and a Lv.7 weakest-boss attack. I use Zapantler as the practical replacement when the Octopus line lacks permanent investment.
Which Tatari should I move toward each boss?
I move Fishopus or Zapantler with the Donscarab line and Tideon. The Beetle controls the target, Tideon applies Slow and Fragile, and the damage slot attacks the boss lane.
Why does Budboo stay in the corner?
Budboo's temporary Lv.5 shadows pierce Bane targets, and its Lv.7 burst prioritizes bosses across the map. It keeps contributing without joining every lane swap.
What temporary level does Poakie need?
Lv.7 activates Lava Oil, which supplies broad damage, Burn, and control pressure. Lv.3 also gives the movement buff, and Lv.5 adds a forward Stun zone.
Is this formation fully automatic?
No. The best results require moving the boss squad, refreshing Poakie's buff, returning Poakie to the front, and retreating during dangerous late waves.
